Frequently asked questions

  • Every university is getting a Water Institute. Why so many?

Water Institutes serve to coordinate water research within universities. Further, an institute can assist students and researchers with research that increasingly does not fit in single disciplines. Ideally, an institute should assist with removing jargon so that research is relevant and useful across disciplines. Looking wider, these institutes help with communicating and integrating research across universities and other knowledge centres.

  • Can I do a Masters/PhD with the Future Water Institute?

Yes, and no. Research projects have a home within the groups inside the Institute. Thus a PhD student, for example, would have a project and main supervisor in one of these groups. The research projects are co-supervised through members of the Institute, and research is facilitated across the Institute.
